Project Presentation
REACHOut®to Parents
REACHOut®to Parents is an educational project which utilises on-line content and which has been developed with parents for parents. The initiative was founded in Liverpool in 1992, and parents' knowledge and skills are the essential element. They have created their own learning materials, and are encouraged to undertake open learning that can be undertaken with interactive materials at home and the classroom. The project is also being introduced in London later this year, where a 'Digital Learning Ring' operates for disadvantaged areas of the city. There are initially three learning centres in London, where participants can link up to a so-called 'learning intranet'. From 2002, a new introductory course in computing for the whole family will be made available to all users. A partnership between Liverpool Hope and Liverpool City Council, the REACHOut® to Parents project is funded by the Single Regeneration Budget, the European Social Fund, and the European Regional Development Fund.
