Fritt Fram
In 1996, the Swedish government commissioned a programme which would be tailored to the needs of people with disabilities in their dealings with information technology. The programme is called "Fritt Fram", and consists of an information campaign that aims to increase awareness among decision-makers and the general public of the needs of disabled people in using IT and the Internet.
From 1999 to 2001, the project has included, among others, the following activities:
A "Fritt Fram" exhibition at the Museum of Science and Technology in Stockholm (March 2000 to April 2001). This was a presentation of the latest research projects and ways of simplifying everyday tasks for those with disabilities.
"Banners for the Blind" Web competition for Internet agencies and designers to create 'readable' banners for blind people (1999).
Various advertising campaigns
Publication of the "How to get more visitors to your web" advertising series in the trade press (September 2001). The series provides information on how to make Internet access easier.
